The network of financial institutions that have integrated the EVO Digital Identity Wallet continues to grow. Starting today, EVO users can also use their digital documents for identification at EuroCreditBank’s 65 service counters across the Republic of Moldova.
With this integration, digital documents stored in EVO can now be used at the service counters of four banks in the Republic of Moldova — EuroCreditBank, Moldindconbank, FinComBank and Victoriabank — further expanding the number of banks where citizens can identify themselves directly from their phones without presenting a physical document.
The process takes only a few seconds. At the service counter, the customer opens the EVO application on their phone and scans the QR code displayed by the bank officer. The application shows what information is being requested, and the customer confirms its transmission. The information is then received digitally by the bank and verified within its system, without copying the document or manually entering the data.
Throughout the entire process, the user remains in control: they can see what information is being requested and decide whether to share it. The use of digital documents from EVO is an additional option, while customers who prefer physical documents may continue to use them.
“The success of EVO is directly linked to the number of real-life scenarios in which it can be used. This is why we are pleased to expand the number of service counters where digital documents are accepted directly, and we will continue to provide both new use cases and practical, useful functionalities for every citizen,” said Nicoleta Colomeeț, Director of the Electronic Governance Agency.
“The integration of EVO represents an important step in the modernization and digitalization of EuroCreditBank’s services. Through this solution, we aim to simplify customers’ interaction with the Bank, reduce the time required for identification and access to services, and provide a faster, more convenient and more secure experience. For EuroCreditBank, digital transformation means, above all, implementing practical solutions that respond to customers’ real needs and contribute to the development of a modern, accessible banking system connected to the digital infrastructure of the Republic of Moldova,” said Oleg Holban, Chairman of the Management Board of EuroCreditBank.
How does identification through EVO work?
The customer opens the EVO application and scans the QR code displayed at the EuroCreditBank service counter.
In EVO, the customer can see the information requested by the Bank for identification purposes.
The customer confirms the transmission of the information directly from their phone.
The information is securely transmitted to the Bank’s system.
The Bank verifies the information digitally and proceeds with the requested operation.
EuroCreditBank’s integration continues the process launched on April 1, 2026, when the Electronic Governance Agency initiated the integration phase of the EVO Wallet for public institutions and private companies.
The EVO Digital Identity Wallet is part of EVO 2.0, the new generation of the government application developed by the Electronic Governance Agency. Citizens currently have access in the wallet to their identity card, driving licence and vehicle registration certificate. Documents available in EVO have the same legal validity as their physical counterparts, in accordance with Law No. 321 of November 9, 2023.
The EVO Wallet is developed in accordance with the architecture and standards of the European Digital Identity Wallet (EUDI Wallet). The Republic of Moldova is also participating in the European WE BUILD consortium, together with European partners, in the development and testing of the EUDI Wallet ecosystem. In this way, the national infrastructure is being developed to ensure interoperability and enable future cross-border use cases for digital identity.
